Why Give?

AID TBD IN SUPPORTING NEW plays!

TBD aims to provide a platform for artists who are overlooked by conventional theater. We support this mission through biweekly private readings of new plays; public reading events; Clippings, our annual new play festival; and producing world premieres of new work every year, with the Philly Fringe serving as our marquee event.

Making theatre is almost as expensive as getting a theatre degree. Now, you don’t need money to make good theatre… but you need a lot of money to make a lot of theatre!

help tbd support new and emerging artists

Your donation help make every aspect of our productions better than the last. Larger venues, bigger sets, better costumes, better merchandise, better ad space, and so much more.

Even then, your donations go beyond that and help TBD with different aspects of productions that are often over looked. This comes down to things like insurance, staff meals, parking tickets, making sure we get that one extra light bulb at the hardware…

Most importantly, your donations help us ensure all artists involved in each production are paid an appropriate wage for their time and artistic services.

Help Revitalize Philly’s Theatre Scene

A large aspect of TBD’s mission to carve out space for new artists in a city whose theatre scene has become insular. We aim to introduce new and old audience members back to theatre through new plays; pieces that break the traditional perception of theatre but are still relatable and true to life.

"When you have an idea, it's really embarrassing to care about something that doesn't exist yet. And it's really vulnerable. It's like you're trying to convince your doctor that you have a tumor, based on nothing except you just kind of feel like you probably have one… You meet people who are not doctors, and they are convinced, yes, that is a tumor. And, in fact, we also think we have tumors. Let's all cut ourselves open right now and pull it out for the world to see." Cole Escola, Writer of “Oh, Mary!”
